President Obama on the Topic of the Possible US Shutdown
(US) President Obama:
If Congress does not fund budget, the govt will shut down – press conf- Some of the services including social security operations, postal service, public security services will continue.
– Shutdown will have a very real economic impact.
– Would veto recent House amendment to continuing resolution.
– Shutdown is entirely preventable if House approves the Senate Bill.
– Healthcare Act cannot be shut down.
– Willing to work on a budget compromise.
– One faction of one party does not get to shut down the govt.
